Hey everyone! Thanks for all your prayers for Covenant Community Church so far. God has been answering them in amazing ways and we are confident in His ability to provide for His children. We have officially begun fund raising for CCC and are currently mailing out information packets to anyone who is interested in supporting this church in prayer, service, or finances. We realize it is a difficult time to give, but are confident that God will provide through is children and other churches. Please pray about how God is calling you and your church to support the vision for a Christ-centered church in Pearland. As you consider how you might give, take a look around our blog to understand who we are and what we hope to accomplish in Christ. If you have any questions, or would like a more detailed summary of our vision, we would LOVE to share it with you. We have a 16 page booklet that you can download here. If you'd like even more information, it is definitely available, just leave a comment, or email me at daniel(at)thecovenantcommunity(dot)com.
When you have made a decision, please fill out this form. Thanks again everyone. You can also click the "Donate Now" button on the left side of our blog to donate electronically through Paypal.
I suppose it's time to write something new...and there is plenty new to write.
We're moving full speed toward launching a new church in Pearland next summer and we are excited/scared/humbled all at the same time.
Here's what is new.
- We are incorporated - Covenant Community Church exists according to the State of Texas. Please pray that God would be honored by this church. Pray that it would be known by its love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, love for each other, and love for Pearland, Houston and beyond.
- I am one phone call away from being finished with Phase 1 of Acts 29's application process. (Acts 29 is a church planting network out of Mars Hill Church in Seattle, WA). Pray that I would be known through this process, and that God would continue to refine me as I pursue the Lord's will in becoming a founding elder of a new church. This is an enormous responsibility which I cannot take lightly. I am thankful for the chance to walk through the fire and be asked hard questions.
- On November 19-21 I will be attending the Acts 29 Boot Camp in Dallas, Texas where I will have the privilege of learning under some of the most gifted and experienced men in the church planting world. Please pray that I would be teachable, and that God would be glorified as this gathering of future church planters takes place. It is exciting to think of others all across the country starting churches much like ours. This is a reminder to pray for the entire country, not just Pearland or Houston, but the nations. We are but a small piece of a grand symphony that the risen Christ is composing through the power of the Holy Spirit by the will of the Father. This symphony will end with the triumphant return of Christ and the restoration of all things.
- Pray for our team, myself (Daniel), Tim Ganger, and Dave Ainsworth, and our respective families as we stand on the cusp of uncertainty. The year ahead of us has many unanswered questions. We will all be seeking new jobs, and new homes. The Ainsworths and Gangers will both be first-time parents mere months before the move. We don't know who the Lord has for us in Pearland, but we know that he has many people there, pray that we would find them, or that they would find us.
More updates to come -
Daniel
What does Covenant Community Church hope to accomplish?
God is calling us to plant a new church in Pearland for the sake of Christ and to the Glory of God. This church will be targeting the unchurched of the younger generation as well as the over-churched nominal Christianity that is rampant in the South. We will be a church that is centered on the Gospel of Jesus Christ because we know that it is only this gospel that can bring hope and change to our city. Through exegetical preaching, gospel-centered community and gospel-driven mission, we pray that God would bring renewal to a land that has fallen in love with the gifts instead of the Giver. Through aggressively investing in discipleship, we hope to see leaders raised up in our church in order to send them out to plant more churches in Houston, the United States and the world.
